Thunder live (partial) - Boys Like Girls
Monday night I had the pleasure of seeing the Boys Like Girls and All-American Rejects fall tour at the Mahalia Jackson Theatre in New Orleans, Louisiana. The performances from all three bands went far beyond any expectations I previously held. Not only did every band manage to sound as good or better than they do on their records, they took the time to engage the crowd in multiple ways throughout the show creating a truly memorable experience. If this tour has yet to stop by your city, get a ticket now and check it out because this tour is seriously underrated.
Here’s a clip of Martin from Boys Like Girls playing a part of one of their most popular songs, Thunder. If you want to see the whole thing, go buy a ticket! They add some really interesting elements to the old songs to keep them fresh so even if you’ve seen them before it’s still worth checking out.
On July 17th Boys Like Girls released an EP entitled Crazy World. The EP has three songs on it: Be Your Everything, The First Time, and Life of the Party. I have never been a huge Boys Like Girls fan, I will on occasion listen to their songs but I generally don’t go out of my way to listen to them. This EP reminded me of why.
Although there was nothing bad about any of the songs, none of them particularly stood out. The lyrics were all predictable and didn’t have any deep meaning; the songs sounds vaguely similar. It felt like the same song three times with minor tweaks. All in all I found Crazy World to be rather bland with little excitement lyrically or musically.

New Music: Boys Like Girls played an acoustic session for ustream this week and debuted three new songs “The First Time” (2:36), “Life of the Party” (9:27), and “Be Your Everything” (19:00) and played a bonus acoustic version of “Hero/Heroine” (25:40) which you can watch above.
Their new album Crazy World is set to release in the Fall.
